The bear in the blue coat, toting his fabled marmalade sandwiches, is set to grace the silver screen once again this coming school holidays.
Boasting a stellar cast of actors and a heartwarming script, taking Michael Bond’s classic stories and whipping them up into a fabulous marmalade-slathered feast for the whole family; Paddington 2 serves up the perfect viewing this festive season.
Happily settled at the Browns and a firm favourite with the residents of Windsor Gardens, our favourite cub is trying his paw at employment in order to come up with the money to buy Aunt Lucy the perfect present for her 100th birthday. Until it is stolen.
With the circus lending a theatrical backdrop and the very theft itself taking on a dramatic guise, the scene is set for Paddington Bear to solve the mystery, with help from the Browns, Mrs Bird and a few felons of course.
While a pop-up book of London is at the heart of the theft, it is Paddington’s unrelenting ability to see the good in people that is at the heart of this tale and the very thing that saves him at the end of the day.
His insistence on manners and politeness, his want to make a friend of everyone he meets and his sweet naïveté are what make Paddington Bear so very endearing. His view of the world is one we should all adopt as, I have no doubt, it would quickly become a better place.
Retaining the innocence and humour of its predecessor, Paddington 2 is the enchanting family adventure you’ll want to revisit time and time again.
A quick note too, when the credits roll, don’t vacate your seats quite yet cos it ain’t over till the man in prison pink sings.
Paddington 2 (G) is out in cinemas on 21 December.
