It’s Pirate Day in Adventure Bay so we donned our best ‘me-hearty’ attitudes as we embarked for the ICC Sydney to join Ryder and his team of pups on The Great Pirate Adventure. The 2018 tour of PAW Patrol Live! is rife with mystery, pirate legends and of course, treasure and my little buccaneers were beyond excited to be part of the action.

The first thing that struck me about this production, unlike others of its genre, was the fact that the entire main cast from the television series was represented on stage. Even Mayors Goodway and Humdinger and their respective animal companions found themselves brought to life.

Ryder and his team are no stranger to rescue missions but their pirate themed celebration, engineered by Mayor Goodway, hands them a whole lot more than they were expecting. With Cap’n Turbot stranded in a mysterious cave, the pups are in for a few surprises, one being a secret pirate treasure map. Now Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Skye, Rocky and Zuma are tasked with decoding the map and locating the treasure before the conniving Mayor Humdinger and his Kitty Catastrophe crew get to it first.

Battling quick sand, stormy weather and the dastardly antics of Humdinger, it’s all paws on deck, including some help from the newest pup on the Bay, Tracker.

From the life-size costumes turning my kids’ favourite animated characters into living, breathing three dimensional entities, even incorporating the pups’ rescue vehicles, to the wonderful sets and storyline; X truly barks the spot in the fantastic PAW Patrol Live! tour.

This enigmatic and creative production had the youngsters in the audience engaged from start to finish. They danced along with the musical numbers, called out to Cap’n Turbot when they spotted the Pirate Parrot he was desperately searching for and invested themselves entirely in the pups’ pursuit for the much-anticipated treasure.

My 6 year old confided in me during the 15 minute intermission that in actual fact the show itself was the real treasure and I guess that truly sums it up!
