  1. Brickman Experience, an interactive exhibition made entirely from LEGO® bricks and the largest touring exhibition is heading to the Newcastle Entertainment Centre these school holidays.
  2. The Newcastle Museum comes alive with science these holidays exploring the world around us. Book a spot in the Bricks for Kidz workshop where you’ll learn about real-life space exploration and build models related to the NASA space program.
  3. Get creative at the Newcastle Art Gallery with two weeks of wonderful art workshops for kids. Week 1, kids can take inspiration from the exhibition MAGIC MIKE: MICHAEL ZAVROS and the work of art The Mermaid and make their own self portrait that looks like an underwater masterpiece. In week 2, kids can jump into the mesmerizing world of origami art and paper boat designs which is inspired by the exhibition ALEX SETON: THE ISLAND and the work of art Paper Armada (2015).

  6. Get away from the screens and back to nature these holidays at Hunter Wetlands. Test out your Bush Skills, or learn about lizards, go exploring for lizards, create a Lizard Lounge at the Wetlands Explorer Club.
  7. Check out the kids activities at the Nature is Fun Day at the Hunter Botanic Gardens. Come and explore, learn and have fun during the school holidays. Collect great specimens, learn about nature and make some craft item to take home.
  8. Head to the Newcastle Permanent Junior Ranger Fun Day with a feast of school holiday activities including junior ranger arts and crafts, face painting, pot a plant, critter encounters, and jumping castles.
    Get to know some of Blackbutt’s reptile residents for just $2 per person during a reptile show in the Wildlife Arena daily during the school holidays.
  9. Learn from the best in this cooking class designed for little chefs, let them get hands on in making their ultimate burgers from healthy ingredients and instructions from a Grill’d chef at Westfield Kotara or get the kids moving and stretching these holidays with kids yoga classes at Happy Little Yogis on Level 2, opposite Australia Post.
  10. Enjoy exploring the free enchanted maze on Level 1 outside David Jones Westfield Kotara with Alice, and meet The Mad Hatter and The Queen of Hearts. Plus the Easter bunny will be popping in the say hello!
  11. Head out to Hunter Valley Gardens and see the Warriors of Peace Training Academy Show featuring PO from Kung Fu Panda. This energetic show will engage your children and let their imaginations run wild, plus children will also have a chance to meet and greet PO!
  12. Pirate School returns to the Newcastle Maritime Museum on Tuesdays and Fridays during the school holidays. Learn how to be a pirate and join in the treasure hunt.
  13. Bricks4Kidz has two locations where the kids can get hands on in a fun LEGO workshop these school holidays. New Lambton – St Therese’s Primary School and Belmont – Belmont North Neighbourhood Centre will hold fun full day workshops for kids 5+.
  14. Join the FREE craft school holiday workshops at Stockland Green Hills as kids  can create and take home a beautiful hand-made autumn flower pot and a packet of seedlings.
  15. Don’t miss Happy Hour at Superstrike Bowling centres for $5 games per person between 9am and 10am.
  16. Maitland Regional Art Gallery are running the self guided Code Breaker activity at the gallery these holidays. Grab yourself a clipboard with Code Breaker 1.0 from the art gallery Front Desk and use the clues to break the code!

  18. Come on a WilderQuest journey and learn about Aboriginal culture on this adventure through Glenrock State Conservation Area, near Newcastle.
  19. On this WilderQuest adventure, we’ll uncover the mysterious world beneath the rocks at Merewether Baths, near Glenrock State Conservation Area and Newcastle.
  20. Get hands on at the Lake Macquarie Art Gallery for a selection of fun children’s art classes. Choose from print making to sculpture, there is something for everyone these school holidays.
  21. These autumn holidays Maitland Gaol has a full range of activities for the whole family. Immerse yourself in the history of Maitland Gaol on this 1½ tour, discovering stories of all sorts of heroes and villains, learn about the history and operation of this notorious prison,  let off some steam over 90 minutes and bust some moves at the special silent disco or some of the interesting and very peculiar things that have been found on the site.
  22. Knock down and hot cross your very own fruitless buns, then spend some time decorating some delicious cupcakes with an Easter Theme at the Essential Ingredient.
  23. Kids can cuddle, feed and learn about the animals from experts at the Homemaker Centre Kotara these autumn holidays. There will also be FREE camel rides on the day.

  25. The Arts Emporium Lambton is running School Holiday workshops over the Easter break that are sure to keep your kids excited and entertained. Get creative with clay, fabric or watercolours these school holidays.
  26. Head to Megamania School Holiday Play Sessions on the 10th April for a Circus Workshop with JD’s World of Magic.
  27. Flip your way to the Hunter Sports Centre on Saturday 22nd April for a Come and Try Day. They are also hosting a trampolining for beginners and a skills clinic over the two weeks of the holidays.
