Adelaide’s North Terrace is known as our cultural precinct – which includes our Art Gallery. Miss 3 and I were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff at the information desk and we strolled through some of the exhibitions on our way to the restaurant. I was so impressed with both the classiness and kid friendliness. My friend and I ordered our coffees and morning tea, and before we knew it, our table was covered with a colouring in paper table cloth and crayons to keep Miss 3 busy. The café is right near the toilets and parents room which was very convenient, and out door seating is also available with grass for the kids to run around on.

They really ‘get’ little artists here at the Art Gallery and cater for all age groups. “The Studio” is the special interactive activity centre set up just for little artists (it’s a good idea to phone ahead as there are often school groups using this area on week days). However, on the first Sunday of every month, the Art Gallery offers ‘START at the Gallery’ and this is when it’s all happening for kids.

Story telling is also on Sundays commencing at 11:30 in the Gallery shop. We found some really beautiful and unique pieces during our browse of the shop, and of course there are special books and art materials for kids too.

The Art Gallery spans three levels, all accessible for prams if required. Galleries/exhibitions are organised by theme and there is much to learn and see. Remind your little ones to look but not touch during their visit.
