See Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature at our New Year’s Eve Advance Screening on 31 December. Followed by a special broadcast of the 9pm Sydney NYE fireworks.  Following the events of the first film, Surly and his friends must stop Oakton City’s mayor from destroying their home to make way for a dysfunctional amusement park.

ABC TV Countdown to New Years Eve
Join master of ceremonies, Charlie Pickering as he counts down the biggest night of the year with the New Year’s Eve 2017 broadcast, Countdown Live NYE 2017 on ABC and ABC iview.
The evening events will commence with a Welcome to Country with Rhoda Roberts AO, followed by The Early Night Show, co-hosted by Hoot the Owl and the one and only Kitty Flanagan. Featuring the Play School band, jugglers, acrobats and a marching band, it promises to be fun for all the family!
There will be a cross to ABC ME’s Grace Koh and Giggle and Hoot’s Jimmy Giggle who will be live from Sydney’s Botanical Gardens. There will be a very special performance from Casey Donovan, and you’ll see some hilarious Play School auditions.


9pm Family Fireworks

Catch the the first fireworks at Sydney Harbour at 9pm.The 8 minute display includes fireworks released from 4 barges and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It also includes the winning entry from the ABC’s Design Your Own Firework competition. Tune in to the synchronised simulcast on KIIS 106.5 FM.

If your little one can last the distance, stick around for the Harbour Light Parade as  vessels are decorated with cool white ropelight, dazzling the crowds and adding to the unique choreography as they dance in the harbour.

New Year’s Eve at the Maritime Museum
Your family is invited to a very special New Year’s Eve on the Darling Harbour foreshore. This year be wowed by roving magicians and ribbon dancers; enjoy exclusive after-hours access to our newest interactive exhibition, Arctic Voices, have fun with our roving character performers, play with our bubble artist and hula hoops, have your face painted, and dance the night away with our DJ.

Parramatta New Year’s Eve
Parramatta will farewell 2017 in style on Sunday 31 December when it hosts an end-of-year twilight picnic celebration at Parramatta Park, featuring a host of entertainment, activities and food, and culminating with a spectacular fireworks display. Carnival On The Green will have even more rides as well as a range of family-fun activities such as hula hoop workshops, face painting and colourful roving characters to meet.


Yarra Park New Year’s Eve Festivities
Families can enjoy free stage entertainment, films and a spectacular fireworks display at 9.30pm. All entertainment is duplicated in two distinct zones across the site to assist with large crowds.

Footscray Park New Year’s Eve Festivities
Maribyrnong City Council are hosting New Year’s Eve fireworks at 9.30pm in Footscray Park located on Ballarat Road, Footscray. Families can bring along picnic supplies, enjoy free entertainment and watch a fireworks display at 9.30pm.


New Year’s Eve at Southbank
Southbank is the place to be to catch a spectacular visual display of fireworks this New Year’s Eve. Head down at 8.30pm for the family friendly fireworks before the midnight fireworks. There will be plenty of food trucks or pack a picnic to enjoy the night with your family.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Eagle Street Pier
Bring in the new year with spectacular views of fireworks over the Brisbane River at Eagle Street Pier. Book in for one of the many offerings available at the precinct and enjoy an evening of incredible sights with firework shows at 8.30pm and midnight, or come and enjoy the many fast and casual eats available. Portside Wharf also has an 8.30pm fireworks display for the little ones.


City of Adelaide New Year’s Eve-Elder Park and Adelaide Riverbank
The City of Adelaide’s free New Year’s Eve party in Elder Park and Adelaide Riverbank is the place to welcome in 2018! This year we’re bringing a brand new, jam packed program with live music, roving performers, and of course TWO mesmerising fireworks displays.
For the first time, there will be a Riverbank Kids Zone! There will be a full family program on the Street Theatre Stage, children’s shows in the Rastelli venue and special activities for families in the Nonsense Inc. Big Top, as well as biggest program of roving performance yet. We’ve got something for the foodies too, as 2017 will see our biggest food vendor offering!!
Family fireworks will commence at 9pm.

Normanville New Years Eve Pageant
New Year’s Eve 2017 will see the 20th Annual Normanville New Year’s Eve Pageant. The pageant consists of a parade of approximately 40 colourful floats leaving Katherine Drive at 7.30pm sharp winding its way through the streets of Normanville ending at the beautiful Normanville foreshore at approximately 8pm.


Family New Years Eve Party at the AQWA
Bring the whole family to celebrate New Years Eve at AQWA! This event is suited for children of all ages and kids get a FREE Slushy!

Northbridge New Year’s Eve
Family celebrations start at 4.30pm, with movies in the Cultural Centre and Northbridge Piazza, and culminate in a countdown at 9pm.
Live performances and workshops include improvised comedy shows, African drummers, hula hoop competitions and a class on how to dance to jazz. Live music and street performances continue until late for adults.


Newcastle New Year’s Eve Newcastle Harbour
An explosion of colour will light up the night sky over Newcastle on New Year’s Eve as the biggest 9pm fireworks ever to be launched in the city mark the end of a landmark year. The pyrotechnics spectacular will be the centrepiece of an evening of neon-themed festivities, stretching along the entire Newcastle Foreshore. Adding to the colourful vibe, lantern parades will take place at 7.45pm and 8.45pm and an illuminated labyrinth will be set up on the Market Street Lawn, together with a giant “resolution tree” where people can hang their New Year’s resolutions.

Maitland Riverbank New Year’s Eve
Head to the Maitland Riverbank for family friendly New Year’s Eve festivities at 5.00pm.
There will be a stack of family friendly entertainment including live music and delicious food, followed by the spectacular fireworks display at 9.00pm, with festivities ending at 9.30pm.
