Bookshops across Australia are about to have their annual party and you’re invited! It’s National Love Your Bookshop Day this Saturday the 11th August. Love Your Bookshop Day is a chance to celebrate what makes your local bookshop great.

Just like the Meg Ryan film, You’ve Got Mail, everyone needs a ‘The Shop Around the Corner” Bookshop! The intimate bookshop where you can join the weekly storytime, know the owners by name and become part of the literary family. With big book chains (like Fox Books in You’ve Got Mail) and online purchasing, the risk of these little businesses who provide more of an experience rather than an automated service could be pushed to close down if we don’t frequent them enough.

Love Your Bookshop Day, celebrates bookshops around Australia that make you feel a part of their family. The bookshops that organise events and authors to come so you can meet your author idol, the little nook in the corner where you can curl up in and ponder over a book you want to buy and the bookshops that stock a range of books you’ve never heard of before.

Head to your local bookshop this Saturday for Love Your Bookshop Day to show your love and thanks to bookshops like these that make your book purchasing an experience rather than a sale. Events happening around the country include;
