The Big Rocking Horse in Gumeracha is a true South Australian Icon. Nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills (about a 40 minute drive from the city), there is so much to do here for families and kids of all ages. It’s a whole day out!!
First and foremost climbing to the top of the Rocking Horse is a must (costing only $2!). It’s very safe, especially if you just go to the first level. There’s a cute mini rocking horse too for the little ones to sit on so you can snap a pic!
The spacious café has a country feel with a perfect little play corner for the kiddies (plus a kids menu). Next you can browse the wooden toy shop, where all the toys are made on site. There are just so many to choose from and they’re such beautiful quality.
The kids will love wandering through the Animal Park and getting up close with the animals – kangaroos, goats, peacocks, chickens, ducks, birds, sheep and more. Entry is only $1 + buy a pack of food for $2 and you can feed the animals too!
There’s also an outdoor play area for the kids with cubby houses and picnic tables. At times tour groups come through here and it gets quite busy, but there is enough space for everyone.
