Semaphore is just one of Adelaide beautiful beach suburbs, about a half an hour drive northwest from the CBD. The main attraction for kids being the awesome Waterslide complex with mini golf, bouncy castle, ferris wheel and various other amusements. Opening hours vary depending on time of year and weather conditions.

  • December – March open every weekend and public holidays 10:30 – late + every day in the school holidays 10am – late.
  • April – November open on weekends, public & school holidays 11am – 4:30 pm.

The 75 year old carousel is just to the right of the waterslide complex is believed to be Australia’s biggest! Open on weekends, public & school holidays, 11:30 – 3:30 (open until later during summer school holidays).

The new main playground is right near the jetty, however if you go for a short stroll you’ll find one more to the north and one more to the south. And of course a jetty walk and play at the beach is a must do!

Go for a steam train ride on “Bill” starting at the Semaphore Jetty, travelling along the beach for 2kms to Fort Glanville. Operated by the National Railway Museum, they depart every hour between 11am – 4pm on these days…

What’s nearby?

If you stroll down Semaphore road you’ll find heaps of funky cafes and restaurants; such as Barry’s Burgers, Royal Copenhagen ice cream, Whipped Bake Bar Café, Swedish Tarts, Likerish kitchen & bar and Viva Zapata Mexican which has the best view of them all! The Semaphore Palais (just north of the waterslide complex) is one of Adelaide’s best beachy pubs with casual bar meals as well as a bistro.

You’ll also find the Odeon Star Cinema on Semaphore Road if you feel like catching a movie.
