Calling all Wizards, Witches, Muggles, and Squibs! Harry Potter will be turning 38 years old on the 31st July along with the author who created him J.K Rowling. To celebrate, Harry Potter Day was created marking the 31st July as the official day to celebrate the Harry Potter Franchise.
Other dates have been flagged as Harry Potter Day including the 2nd May which is the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts (May 2 1998) at which time Voldemort was finally defeated by Harry, thus ending the Second Wizarding War.
Whatever day you choose, it’s amazing to see the Harry Potter Franchise continuing all over the world celebrating the wonderful wizarding world of Harry Potter 21 years on!
If you still can’t get enough of Harry Potter, there are some fabulous Harry Potter events happening not only on Harry Potter Day but through the rest of the year as well! Mark them in your diary students!
POTTERFEST – A Harry Potter Marathon
Join in for over 20 hours of wizarding wonder at POTTERFEST – a Harry Potter marathon, screening at Palace Cinemas.
The twenty-three hour marathon will be showing at the Astor Theatre in Melbourne, Chauvel Cinema in Sydney, Palace Electric in Canberra and Palace Centro in Brisbane.

Harry Potter and the Subiaco Library: Date TBA
Come along to an evening of witchcraft and wizardy as Subiaco Library turns into a Harry Potter haven! This family friendly event is open to all ages, young and old, muggles included!
The night will kick off with a feast in the Great Hall followed by games, craft and Potterific fun! Why not visit Dymocks Subiaco at the Flourish and Blotts store, take a photo in our photo booth or make your own feather quill and Harry’s glasses. You won’t have to travel to the west tower to visit the owlery, they are heading to the library instead. Live owls will be making a special appearance at Subiaco Library for this event.
The Store of Requirement Brisbane
The Store of Requirement is a wizard inspired store that sells official Harry Potter merchandise and is currently located in Samford Qld, 30 minutes from Brisbane. The store opened on the 31st of July, 2017 – Harry Potter’s birthday and the year that celebrated the 20th anniversary of The Philosophers Stone, selling Official Licensed merchandise.
